The Ontario Elite Hockey League has announced a change to the regular season overtime format for the 2023-24 season.
All regular season overtime periods remain five minutes in length, but will now be played three-on-three.
If there is no winner determined during overtime, regular season games will advance to a three-round shootout.
The point structure is unchanged, the winning team is awarded two points in the standings, the losing team is awarded one point.
The playoff overtime format is unchanged, and remains 20-minute sudden-death periods played five-on-five.
