Our Story

Senior hockey has been a staple in small towns across Canada for decades. Our story is no different. Founded in 1943 by the Western Ontario Athletic Association (WOAA), our league has existed in many different formats for 80 years.

Through many different names, categories and eras, senior hockey became the backbone of communities during the long winter months, providing high calibre hockey in small towns.

In 2023, the collective clubs making up our league determined the best course of action to ensure the league continues to live up to its potential was to join the Ontario Hockey Association (OHA).

The Ontario Elite Hockey League picks up on 80 years of history, as we continue to build senior hockey throughout Ontario.

Our vision is quite simple – we endeavor to deliver the highest quality hockey product possible while maintaining our roots in small town Ontario.
