A dominant playoff run for the Minto 81’s culminated in becoming the OHA Sr. “AA” Champions and first OEHL Cup Champions.

Riley Cribbin scored four times in a 5-2 win to sweep the defending champion Tavistock Royals, giving Minto their first AA Championship since 2003.

Minto lost only once after the first round of the playoffs, going 12-3 in the postseason. The 81’s used a deep lineup to power their playoff run, with 10 players recording at least 10 points over their 15-game postseason.

Marc Williams took the reins in goal, posting an 8-1 postseason record with a 2.65 goals-against average.

As we conclude the 2023-24 season, everybody associated with the Ontario Elite Hockey League must thank those who supported us as we made a big jump this season.

We could not have done this without the tens of thousands of fans who came through the doors this season, the hundreds of thousands who visited our website and social media channels.

Commissioner Rick Richardson and the folks at the Ontario Hockey Association were invaluable resources, with guidance and patience as we established this league.

We must also congratulate the Georgian Bay Applekings and Erin Outlaws on successful first seasons, and for proving that Thornbury and Erin are viable, deserving communities for our game.

We will only grow from here. Expansion applications have been received already and we continue to receive expressions of interest from across the province as we build a sustainable senior “AA” league.

Exciting things are on the horizon for 2024-25 and beyond, thank you again for supporting local hockey.
